Biography

Piano

Eric Zivian was born in Michigan and grew up in Toronto, where he attended the Royal Conservatory of Music. He later received degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music, the Juilliard School, and the Yale School of Music. Mr. Zivian studied piano with Gary Graffman and Peter Serkin, and composition with Ned Rorem, Jacob Druckman, and Martin Bresnick. He has performed concertos with the Toronto and Santa Rosa symphonies and the Philharmonia and Portland baroque orchestras. He plays fortepiano in the Zivian-Tomkins Duo and the Benvenue Fortepiano Trio, and he is also a member of the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble. Mr. Zivian's compositions have been performed widely in the US and Japan.
