The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence® is a leading-edge order of queer nuns. Since their first appearance in San Francisco on Easter Sunday 1979, the Sisters have devoted themselves to civil rights activism, community service, ministry, and outreach to those on the fringes. A registered 501(c)3 corporation, SPI, Inc. raises money for those in need, giving away $15,000-$25,000 dollars in grants each quarter. The Sisters believe all people have the right to express their unique joy and beauty and use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces that chain the human spirit. Tonight, the Sisters blessing the stage are Sister Roma! (There's No Place Like Rome), Sister Flora Good Thyme, Sister Rosemary Chicken, Sister Maddie bout You, and Sister Angelina Holi. This performance marks the first time the Sisters of Perpetual of Indulgence have appeared with the San Francisco Symphony.
