Tenor

Stuart Skelton (Peter Grimes) regularly gives performances on leading concert and operatic stages spanning from Australia to Asia, Europe, and North America. In the 2013-14 season the Australian tenor appeared as Florestan in Fidelio and in the title role of Peter Grimes at the English National Opera; he also performed Grimes in concert with the London Philharmonic. Other appearances include performances of Dallapiccola’s Il Prigioniero alongside Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony on a European tour with the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius with the BBC Symphony Orchestra (to be recorded for the Chandos label), and Act Three of Wagner’s Siegfried with the Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine. Highlights of recent opera seasons include Mr. Skelton’s Metropolitan Opera and Santa Fe Opera debuts as the Drum Major in Wozzeck, the role of Siegmund in Die Walküre at Seattle Opera and at the Opéra National de Paris, the title role of Parsifal at Opernhaus Zürich, and Ghermann in concert performances of Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades with the Sydney Symphony. He sang Peter Grimes in Tokyo for the New National Theatre and joined the London Symphony Orchestra for Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex on a multi-city European concert tour. Stuart Skelton made his San Francisco Symphony debut in 1995. He can be heard on the San Francisco Symphony’s recording of Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde led by Michael Tilson Thomas on SFS Media.
