Conductor

Dalia Stasevska is chief conductor of the Lahti Symphony in Finland, artistic director of the International Sibelius Festival, and principal guest conductor of the BBC Symphony. She has made several appearances at the BBC Proms including the First Night of the Proms in 2023.

This season, Ms. Stasevska conducts the Cleveland Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, Danish National Symphony, hr-Sinfonieorchester, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Cincinnati Symphony, Seattle Symphony, and Sydney Symphony. Recent engagements include the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Toronto Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, and National Symphony. Last season, she embarked on a six-concert tour to Japan with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and she made her San Francisco Symphony debut in April 2023.

Her debut solo album, Dalia’s Mixtape, with the BBC Symphony, releases next spring on Platoon, featuring genre- bending composers Anna Meredith, Caroline Shaw, Andrea Tarrodi, Noriko Koide, Judith Weir, and others.

Ms. Stasevska studied violin and composition at the Tampere Conservatoire and went on to study violin, viola, and conducting at the Sibelius Academy. In December 2018 she conducted the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic at the Nobel Prize Ceremony in Stockholm. She was awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Conductor Award in 2020, the Alfred Kordelin Prize in 2022, and BBC Music Magazine’s Personality of the Year award in 2023. She was bestowed the Order of Princess Olga, Third Class, by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine in 2020 and since 2022 has actively been supporting Ukraine by raising donations and delivering supplies.
