Conductor

Tim Davies’s film and television credits include La La Land, Trolls, Minions, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Empire, The Peanuts Movie, The Muppets, Lego Ninjago, and Frozen. He has also worked on video game titles from the God of War, Infamous, Sims, Resistance, and Batman: Arkham series, as well as Marvel’s Spider-Man. In the concert hall, he conducted Frozen Live with the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, Pokemon: Symphonic Evolutions with the Baltimore Symphony and San Diego Symphony, and led the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center with Babyface. Other collaborations with the NSO have included arranging and playing drums for the 20th anniversary concert of Nas’s Illmatic, being lead arranger for Kendrick Lamar’s performance of To Pimp a Butterfly, and working on shows with Ledisi and Common. He makes his San Francisco Symphony debut with this performance.

As an arranger, Mr. Davies has worked on albums by Amy Winehouse, Akon, Miguel, Cee Lo Green, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. As a composer, he scored the Fox animated film The Book of Life, contributed additional music for Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, and scored Trollhunters for Dreamworks Animation and Netflix. He also plays drums and writes for his own group, the 18-piece Tim Davies Big Band, and received Grammy nominations in 2010 and 2016.
