Vladimir Babeshko
German violist Vladimir Babeshko has performed at the Lockenhaus, Schleswig-Holstein, Rheingau, Edinburgh International, Verbier, Next Generation, Oberstdorfer Musiktagen, Weilburger Schlosskonzert, Oranjewood, Chelsea Music, and Rio Music Week festivals, collaborating with esteemed colleagues such as Christoph Eschenbach, Gidon Kremer, Daniel Müller-Schott, Gary Hoffman, Lynn Harrell, Lambert Orkis, Ksenia Bashmet, and the Henschel Quartet.
Mr. Babeshko was a scholarship recipient of the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation from 2009 to 2018. This season he joins Ms. Mutter for chamber music performances throughout Europe, North America, and Asia, and on tour to South America with the Mutter Virtuosi. This performance marks his debut under San Francisco Symphony auspices.
Mr. Babeshko is currently first solo violist and section leader of the Belgian National Orchestra. In 2015, he performed composer Pierre-Dominique Ponnelle’s Viola Concerto—composed and dedicated to Mr. Babeshko—in Mannheim, Germany with the Kurpfälzisches Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Babeshko plays on an 1870 viola by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, which is generously lent to him by the Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation.
