SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY CELEBRATES AND HONORS FIVE LONGTIME SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY MUSICIANS RETIRING DURING THE ORCHESTRA’S 2022–23 SEASON
Retiring musicians include Assistant Librarian John Campbell, cellists Carolyn McIntosh and Anne Pinsker, Assistant Principal Horn Bruce Roberts, and violist Wayne Roden
The retiring musicians have a combined 199 years of service to the San Francisco Symphony
The Symphony also thanks Associate Principal Second Violin Helen Kim and second violinist Eliot Lev, who both moved on from the Symphony during the 2022–23 season

XAVIER MUZIK ANNOUNCED AS WINNER OF THIRD ANNUAL EMERGING BLACK COMPOSERS PROJECT PRIZE, NOW KNOWN AS MICHAEL MORGAN PRIZE
Muzik will receive a $15,000 commission and mentorship, and his piece will premiere with the San Francisco Symphony during the 2024–25 season
The award will now be called the Michael Morgan Prize in honor of the late conductor

Bullock joins Salonen and the Orchestra for songs by Margaret Bonds and George Gershwin; the program also includes Reena Esmail’s Black Iris and Maurice Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé featuring the San Francisco Symphony Chorus

June 15-17 Salonen conducts an all-Ludwig van Beethoven program featuring Piano Concerto No. 5, with Levit as soloist, and Symphony No. 3, Eroica
June 22, 24 and 25 Levit performs Ferruccio Busoni’s Piano Concerto with Salonen, the Orchestra, and the San Francisco Symphony Chorus
During his residency, Levit performs a chamber music program with members of the San Francisco Symphony on June 18, and a solo Great Performers Series recital on June 27

Mulligan replaces Iain Paterson, who has regretfully withdrawn from this program due to visa difficulties
Philippe Jordan leads the San Francisco Symphony in the program, which also features the SF Symphony Chorus; the Ragazzi Boys Chorus; and soprano Jennifer Holloway and tenor Ian Bostridge in their Orchestral Series debuts
