Soprano

American soprano Teresa Wakim’s engagements have included Bach’s Mass in B minor, Saint John Passion, and Magnificat with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra; Bach’s Wedding Cantata and Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer with the Cleveland Orchestra; Bach’s Magnificat with Orchester Wiener Akademie; Handel’s Messiah with the Charlotte, Tucson, Alabama, and San Antonio symphonies; Brahms’s A German Requiem with Omaha Symphony; Mozart’s Exsultate, jubilate with New World Symphony; and Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Handel’s Jephtha and Samson with the Handel & Haydn Society. She performed the role of Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with Apollo’s Fire and Pacific Musicworks Seattle, La Fortuna and Giunone in Monteverdi’s Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria with Boston Baroque, Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di Poppea with the Boston Early Music Festival, and Galatea in Handel's Acis and Galatea with Musica Angelica in Los Angeles and the Boston Early Music Festival. Next season she makes debuts at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Opéra Royal at Versailles, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. She recently won First Prize in the International Soloist Competition for Early Music in Brunnenthal, Austria, and was named Lorraine Hunt Lieberson Fellow by Emmanuel Music Boston. Ms. Wakim can be heard as soloist on numerous recordings, including four Grammy-nominated albums with the Boston Early Music Festival and Seraphic Fire. She makes her San Francisco Symphony debut with these performances.
