Cunégonde

Soprano Meghan Picerno earned a bachelor of music degree from Illinois Wesleyan University and her master’s in music from the Manhattan School of Music. She was a quarterfinalist in Plácido Domingo’s Operalia International Vocal Competition at the Royal Opera House; received first prize at the Arkadi International Vocal Competition, at New York Lyric Opera’s vocal competitions, and the Forte International Competition; second prize at the American Prize Vocal Competition; and awards from the Alfredo Silipigni and Benjamin Matthews competitions, and the Career Bridges Grant Program. Ms. Picerno played leading roles in an array of productions, including Johanna in Sweeney Todd, Marian in The Music Man, Nancy in Oliver!, Hodel in The Fiddler on the Roof, Irene in Hello Dolly!, Daisy Mae in Lil’ Abner, Maria in West Side Story, Eliza in My Fair Lady, Amalia Balash in She Loves Me, Liza in Falling in Love with Love, and Rose in September Songs: A Kurt Weill Revue at the Borden Theater. Previous engagements include Cunégonde in Candide at New York City Opera, roles in Cendrillon with the Canadian Institute of Vocal Arts Festival, Die Zauberflöte at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, Rigoletto at Opera Williamsburg, Hänsel und Gretel at the Kennedy Center, the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor at Regina Opera, and solo concert debuts at New York City’s David Geffen Hall and Alice Tully Hall, the National Centre for the of Performing Arts in Beijing, China with iSing Festival, and Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas Brasilieras with Resonance Chamber Orchestra. Other credits include Werther with MCOpera, Les Contes d’Hoffmann with IVAI, La Traviata with Long Island Opera, Die Zauberflöte with New York Lyric Opera, Don Giovanni at Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance, The Medium with Opera Oggi, and Randall Eng's Henry’s Wife at American Opera Projects. She appeared at the Barcelona Opera Studio’s summer concert series, and performed with Joan Dornemann’s International Vocal Arts Institute in New York City. These concerts mark her San Francisco Symphony debut.
