Grammy Award-winning mezzo-soprano Kelley O’Connor appears this season in Mahler’s Second Symphony with the Nashville Symphony and Cincinnati Symphony, joins the New York Philharmonic to open the renovated David Geffen Hall in a gala performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, returns to the St. Louis Symphony for Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde, sings with the New Jersey Symphony in Mahler’s Third Symphony, and debuts with the Taiwan Philharmonic in Berlioz’s Roméo et Juliette.

Last season Ms. O’Connor sang Lieberson’s Neruda Songs with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Mozart’s Requiem with the Dallas Symphony, Das Lied von der Erde with the Seattle Symphony, Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Indianapolis Symphony, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Minnesota Orchestra and Kansas City Symphony.

John Adams wrote the title role of The Gospel According to the Other Mary for Ms. O’Connor, who has performed the work both in concert with the San Francisco Symphony and in Peter Sellars’s fully staged production. Her discography includes Mahler’s Third Symphony with the Dallas Symphony, Neruda Songs and Michael Kurth’s Everything Lasts Forever with the Atlanta Symphony, The Gospel According to the Other Mary with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Cleveland Orchestra. She made her San Francisco Symphony debut in April 2007.
