Biography
Joélle Harvey
Soprano Joélle Harvey (Marzelline), a native of Bolivar, NY, received degrees in vocal performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She is the recipient of a 2011 First Prize Award from the Gerda Lissner Foundation, a 2009 Sara Tucker Study Grant from the Richard Tucker Foundation, and a 2010 Encouragement Award from the George London Foundation. She first appeared with the San Francisco Symphony in 2009. Her 2014 performance of Beethoven’s Mass in C major with the Symphony and Michael Tilson Thomas was recorded for future release on SFS Media.
This season, Ms. Harvey’s engagements include appearances as Sicle in Cavalli’s Ormindo with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden (where she made her debut last season), Galatea in Handel’s Acis and Galatea with the Killkenny Festival, and her role debut as Anne Trulove in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress with Utah Opera. On the concert stage, she appears with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl in Carmina burana, Cleveland Orchestra in Bach’s B minor Mass, Tafelmusik and Handel & Haydn Society in Messiah and Saint Matthew Passion, Los Angeles Philharmonic in Missa solemnis with Michael Tilson Thomas, Music@Menlo in programs of Schubert and Previn, North Carolina Symphony in Messiah, Dallas Symphony in Mozart’s Requiem, and the Pygmalion Ensemble in Mozart’s Mass in C minor.
