Biography

Kim Begley (Horace Adams) makes concert appearances this season in Britten’s War Requiem at the George Enescu Festival and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. The British tenor has made two role debuts in recent seasons, as Selim in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress in Paris and Aegist in Strauss’s Elektra in Montpellier. Last season he returned to Opéra National de Paris in one of his signature roles, Loge in Das Rheingold. This season Mr. Begley sings Aegist in Paris and with the Sydney Symphony. He made his San Francisco Symphony debut in 2006.

Mr. Begley's work on disc includes Falstaff conducted by Georg Solti, Salomé and Das Rheingold forthe Decca label, Florestan in Fidelio for DG Archiv, and a Grammy-winning recording of Busoni’s Doktor Faust on Erato. Mr. Begley is also featured as Herod on two DVD recordings of Salome, in productions from the Metropolitan Opera and Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.
