Music schools I attended: Chicago Musical College, University of Illinois

Began singing: At age 7

Musical inspirations:  My first voice teacher Claire Kittner, and Birgit Nilsson

If I were not a professional singer, I might be a: Conductor (oops, I already am!)

Favorite composers: Whoever’s composition I am working on at the time. I always fall in love!

Favorite vocal works: Too numerous! I love Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été and the aria “D’amour l’ardente flamme” from The Damnation of Faust

When I’m not working, I enjoy: Taking and teaching yoga, and reading or studying

Recent reading: The Invisible Bridge, by Julie Orringer

On my CD player/iPod: Anything with Lorraine Hunt Lieberson or Susan Graham, but I also enjoy various jazz artists and folk singers like Pete Seeger
           
Favorite things to do in the Bay Area: Hiking and being in nature. Experiencing the abundance of great food and attending farmers markets
