Event Description
This new musical production features Alan Cumming recounting the three-part tale: the Nutcracker’s origin story, the well-known events on Christmas Eve, and what happens to the girl and the prince after the beloved ballet ends. This delightful evening decorates E.T.A. Hoffmann’s story with music from Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s tone poems, orchestral suites, and, of course, his famous The Nutcracker, featuring the San Francisco Symphony. Experience a rare holiday treat like never before, one that begins, as all great stories do, with, “Once upon a time…”
Please note that conductor John Mauceri has withdrawn from this program due to COVID-19 related concerns. Conductor Thiago Tiberio has stepped in to replace him.
