Event Description
Boasting the finest brass players from major orchestras across the US, the National Brass Ensemble comes to Davies Symphony Hall for a concert led by San Francisco Opera Music Director Eun Sun Kim. The program includes the world premieres of Jonathan Bingham’s 2021 Emerging Black Composers Project commission DEIFIED and Arturo Sandoval’s Brass Fantasy, written specially for the NBE, together with Richard Strauss’ Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare. SF Symphony Principal Trombone and San Francisco Conservatory of Music Professor Timothy Higgins’ new compilation arrangement of Richard Wagner’s Ring Cycle, titled The Ring, closes the program in an exhilarating finale.
The performance is co-presented by the San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
