Event Description
San Francisco Mayor London N. Breed announced that War Memorial Performing Arts Center venues, including Davies Symphony Hall, will be closed for all public events for the next two weeks in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. All San Francisco Symphony Concerts scheduled at Davies Symphony Hall through March 20 are canceled. Please see home page for details.
Experience the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra in a wildly diverse showcase that spans across four countries and two centuries of music. Opening the program is Smetana’s ode to the Vltava River, or The Moldau, where the music follows the river past Bohemian forests, castles, peasant weddings, and river nymphs. Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra—Britten’s crowd-pleasing introduction to the instruments of classical music—follows with vibrant color and infectious charm, while Mason Bates’ Mothership races with a high-voltage interplay of orthodox rhythms and thrilling sounds of the 21st century.
