Chung-Wai Soong
Bass Chung-Wai Soong began his singing career with Australia’s Victoria State Opera Chorus. He has performed as soloist with West Bay Opera, Victoria State Opera, Cappella SF, and Volti vocal ensemble. He has been a soloist in the Requiems of Fauré, Mozart, and Dvořák, Berlioz’s L’Enfance du Christ, and the Handel roles of Zebul in Jephtha and Gobrias in Belshazzar. Highlights include performances as First Nazarene in Salome, Sadistic Sailor in Missy Mazzoli’s Breaking the Waves, Elijah in the world premiere of Meira Warshauer’s Elijah’s Violin, and Gran Sacerdote in Nabucco. He joined the San Francisco Symphony Chorus in 1994 and made his San Francisco Symphony solo debut in 2005.
