Mark Lawrence
Mark H. Lawrence served as the San Francisco Symphony principal trombone from 1974 to 2007 and appeared as soloist with the SFS on several occasions. Mr. Lawrence is a founding member of Summit Brass, a member of Bay Brass, and a former member of the Empire Brass Quintet. He has appeared with Chicago's Music of the Baroque and performed at the Colorado Music Festival, Grand Teton Music Festival, Lieksa Brass Festival in Finland, and the Tanglewood Institute. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, he is currently on the faculties of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Colburn School in Los Angeles, and Music Academy of the West. He is owner, with San Francisco Symphony Trombonist Paul Welcomer, of MarcoPaulo Publications, a company specializing in music and arrangements for the trombone.
