Baritone

This season Christopher Dylan Herbert performs the title role in Handel's Saul at Trinity Wall Street's Twelfth Night Festival, appears as soloist with the American Classical Orchestra, presents the title role in a new opera about Robert Moses by Judd Greenstein for 3LD and New Amsterdam Presents, and remounts Winterize—an outdoor adaptation of Winterreise with transistor radios for Make Music New York. Last season, he reprised the title role in Jonathan Berger's The War Reporter at the Prototype Festival, sang the role of Polyphemus in Acis and Galatea with Musica Angelica, developed the character “Hannah-before” in Laura Kaminsky's As One for BAM/American Opera Projects, and performed concerts and recitals throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. Mr. Herbert has won awards from the Sullivan Foundation, Gérard Souzay Competition, and Kurt Weill Foundation and has performed at Tanglewood, Lincoln Center, Wolf Trap, Central City Opera, Music Academy of the West, Rheingau Festival, Wigmore Hall, Stiftskonzerte Oberösterreich, Berliner Dom, and Thüringer Bachwochen. He holds a B.A. in music from Yale University and an M.A. in Middle Eastern studies from Harvard University. Mr. Herbert is a C.V. Starr Doctoral Fellow at the Juilliard School and is the baritone in the vocal ensemble New York Polyphony. He makes his San Francisco Symphony debut with this performance.
