Van Zweden Conducts Dvořák New World
February 25 & 27, 2027
Overview
Jaap van Zweden conducts Dvořák’s New World Symphony, in which the composer reflects on his impressions of America and nods to the music he heard there, without straying far from his Czech roots. Violin sensation Himari makes her San Francisco Symphony debut in Max Bruch’s Hungarian-inflected Violin Concerto, while Joel Thompson’s To See the Sky takes inspiration from a quote by singer Cécile McLorin Salvant: “Sometimes you have to gaze into a well to see the sky.”Concert Extras
