Overview

Due to the COVID-19 situation, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the 201920 season, including Summer with the Symphony. This cancellation includes most concerts that were previously announced as postponed.

Radiant mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke, a longtime San Francisco Symphony collaborator and 2019-20 SF Symphony Artist-in-Residence, brings her lustrous and silver-toned voice to a captivating spectrum of recital masterworks. Hear her sing Beethoven’s sublimely beautiful An die ferne Geliebte, a song cycle that opens and closes with the same music: solemn at the start, but at its close, energized and ecstatic. Also on the program, Schumann’s rollercoaster of harrowing emotions, Frauenliebe und-leben, and Mahler’s deeply lyrical Selections from Rückert Lieder.
