Music in Public Schools

Partnering with Public Schools

The San Francisco Symphony’s longstanding partnership with the San Francisco Unified School District helps ensure that students at San Francisco’s public schools have access to music education throughout grades 1-12.

Adventures in Music (AIM)

Designed specifically for San Francisco’s public elementary schools, Adventures in Music (AIM) serves every student in grades 1-5 in every SFUSD elementary school, as well as a number of San Francisco’s independent and parochial schools.  AIM is presented free of charge.

Instrument Training and Support

The Symphony’s Instrument Training and Support (IT&S) program provides assistance to instrumental music programs in San Francisco’s public middle schools and high schools, grades 6-12.  IT&S provides weekly coaching sessions, supplies and instrument repairs, and concert tickets.  The IT&S program is presented free of charge.
