SFS On Tour 2014

In November 2014, MTT and the SFS embarked on a seven-city U.S. tour, their 32nd together in two decades. In celebration of their 20th Anniversary season, MTT and the Orchestra returned to some of their favorite venues, including New York’s Carnegie Hall in New York City, Boston’s Symphony Hall, Cleveland’s Severance Hall, Miami’s Arsht Center, and University campuses in Michigan and Princeton.

The tour combined venues in which they performed together during MTT’s first tour as Music Director with cities venues that have played significant roles in MTT’s career. Tour repertoire included Samuel Adams’s Drift and Providence, an SFS co-commission, Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with Gil Shaham, Ravel’s Daphnis et ChloĆ©—both Suite No. 2 and in complete performance with chorus; Mahler’s Symphony No. 7, and Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz  No. 1.
