The San Francisco League of the San Francisco Symphony was founded in 1980 by residents of the City who support and enjoy the San Francisco Symphony. It is one of nine volunteer groups in the Bay Area and coordinated by the Symphony’s Volunteer Council, established in 1973. The League’s mission is to encourage community service, support the Symphony in audience development, and raise funds for the Symphony’s community and education programs.
The League’s primary fundraising event, the Día de los Muertos Celebration is coupled with the Symphony’s Día de los Muertos Community Concert in November and includes a pre-concert seated lunch, auction, and guest speaker(s). Lunch attendees are also invited on a different date, to an exclusive evening tour of the Día de los Muertos Art Installations in Davies Hall followed by a reception with the artists. Volunteer orientation meetings occur throughout the year and are required for incoming volunteers.
