Mid-Peninsula League

The Mid-Peninsula League of the San Francisco Symphony was founded in 1973 by Peninsula residents who support and enjoy the San Francisco Symphony. It is one of eight volunteer groups in the Bay Area and coordinated by the Symphony's Volunteer Council, also established in 1973. The League's mission is to encourage community service, support the Symphony in audience development, and raise funds for the Symphony's community and education programs.

The League's primary community focus is music education through the San Francisco Symphony's Concerts for Kids program. Interested league members train as docents and prepare students from the Ravenswood School District of East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park to attend these special concerts at Davies Symphony Hall.

Throughout the year, League members enjoy a variety of local social and musical events, music-oriented lectures and trips, and San Francisco Symphony concerts. General meetings are held the last Monday of the month in the morning, with a business meeting followed by either a musical performance or educational speaker.

The League's annual fundraiser, Symphony in Flowers, raises funds for the Symphony's education and outreach programs, as well as for the League's own music education program, the Ravenswood Project. This program reaches over 400 second and third graders in the Ravenswood School District of East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park. This season, Symphony in Flowers will be held on Sunday, May 5 at the Hotel Nia in Menlo Park. The event will feature an elegant dinner, silent auction, and special musical performances.
