The Metropolitan League of the San Francisco Symphony was founded by San Francisco residents who support and enjoy the San Francisco Symphony. It is one of nine volunteer groups in the Bay Area and is coordinated by the Symphony’s Volunteer Council, established in 1973. The League’s mission is to encourage community service, support the Symphony in audience development, and raise funds for the Symphony’s community and education programs.
The League’s fundraising includes a holiday book wrapping project at Books Inc. locations in San Francisco as well as a spring event, held this season on March 26. The event features acclaimed Jazz vocalist, Clairdee, at Waxman’s Restaurant in San Francisco. For more information about the event, Melinda Brown at 415-563-8769.
Throughout the year, League members enjoy a variety of local social and musical events and San Francisco Symphony concerts at Davies Symphony Hall. General meetings are held in the evenings the second Monday of every month at Davies Symphony Hall. Meetings include a brief business meeting followed by either a musical performance or educational speaker.
