Baritone

Roderick Williams’s recent and future engagements include Orontein Charpentier’s Medée, Toby Kramer in Michael Van der Aa’s Sunken Garden and Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte for English National Opera, Van der Aa’s After Life at Melbourne State Theatre, Sunken Garden at Opera de Lyon, and a concert performance of the role of Ned Keene in Britten’s Peter Grimes with Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. As a recital artist, he has been heard at venues and festivals including Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, LSO Saint Luke’s, the Perth Concert Hall, Oxford Lieder Festival, London Song Festival, Vienna’s Musikverein,  and on BBC Radio 3, where he has participated on Iain Burnside’s Voices program. He enjoys relationships with all the major UK opera houses, and he has also sung world premieres of operas by, among others, David Sawer, Sally Beamish, Robert Saxton, and Alexander Knaifel.These current performances mark his San Francisco Symphony debut.

Mr. Williams’s numerous recordings include operas of Vaughan Williams, Lennox Berkeley, and Britten for Chandos, Verdi’s Don Carlos conducted by Bernard Haitink for Philips, and an extensive repertory of English song with pianist Iain Burnside for Naxos. Roderick Williams is also a composer and has had works premiered at Wigmore Hall and Barbican Hall, the Purcell Room, and live on national radio.
