Biography

Andy Statman has performed at major concerts and festivals worldwide. A Grammy award nominee, Mr. Statman has recorded more than twenty albums including his Between Heaven and Earth CD, which was picked as one of the Top Ten CDs of the Year by the New York Times. In 2012 he received the National Heritage Award from the National Endowment of the Arts. He gives master classes in colleges and music camps and his publications include two instruction books on bluegrass mandolin, a book on NEA National Heritage Fellow Jesse McReynolds, a CD instruction series on jazz mandolin, and a DVD on how to play klezmer music. This performance marks his San Francisco Symphony debut.
