Hometown: Toledo, Ohio

Music school I attended:  I attended Stanislaus State College and Sacramento State College and earned a degree in English Literature. When I graduated from college, I began vocal studies with private coaches.

Began singing: At age 4

Musical inspirations: My grandmother, Virginia; my mom, and my uncle. They did not pursue careers in music, but their voices are incredible.

If I were not a professional singer, I might be a: Writer of children’s stories.
 
Favorite composers: Mozart, Gershwin, Sondheim, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Michel Legrand, Nicholas Ashford, Valerie Simpson, and so on!

Favorite vocal works: Wagner, The Flying Dutchman and Die Meistersinger; Verdi, Rigoletto; Gershwin, Porgy and Bess; Sondheim, A Little Night Music
      
When I’m not working, I enjoy: I really enjoy gardening and discovering creatures living under rocks. I am also an avid bird watcher. In my spare time I am constantly searching the Web for information focusing on respiratory and sinus health. 

On my CD player/iPod: The Tao of Healing, by Dean Evenson and Li Xianting; The Gospel at Colonus, featuring the Five Blind Boys of Alabama; recordings of songbirds in the wild; Tibetan bowls; and some didjeridoo selections.         

Favorite things to do in the Bay Area: I love live performances of just about any kind of music. I go to Yoshi’s, the San Francisco Opera, and San Francisco Symphony concerts when time permits. Golden Gate Park in the summer is a favorite place to relax, as well as the Chit Chat Café at the Pacifica pier.
