Richard Cox
Richard Cox (Bob Boles) returns this season to the Metropolitan Opera for the premiere of Nico Muhly's Two Boys and the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile for Janáček’s Kát’a Kabanová. A former ensemble member at Frankfurt Opera, the American tenor has sung the title role in Saint-Saëns’s Samson et Dalila at the New Orleans Opera, Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos and Sergei in Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, and Ruprecht in Viktor Ullmann’s Der zerbrochene Krug at the Los Angeles Opera (released on DVD for Arthaus Musik). Mr. Cox made his New York recital debut in the Marilyn Horne Foundation’s On Wings of Songrecital series. He has also appeared with the Seattle Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra of Saint Luke’s. He holds degrees from Tennessee Technological University, Florida State University, and the Juilliard School. These performances mark his San Francisco Symphony debut.
