Michael Tilson Thomas and the SF Symphony partner with Bay Area arts organizations to bring you an eye-opening, ear-stretching 2-week festival that celebrates how progressive composer Igor Stravinsky changed how we now experience art. Igor Stravinsky is regarded by many as the first true Russian opera. The exhibit explores the text from Alexander Pushkin’s 1825 play of the same name, Mussorgsky (1839-81) wrote his opera during another turbulent time in Russian history, as revolutionary groups threatened the life of Tsar Alexander II. The San Francisco Symphony has partnered up with Art Haus, a performance art group founded zin 2017, to bring you an experience unlike any other. See the movement of ballet and hear the music that Stravinsky composed and influenced in a unique pre-concert experience at Davies.

Art Haus performances will be located in the First Tier Lobby and will only be available for the September 27 – September 30 concerts. Doors open at 6:45pm

Peter Grunberg, acclaimed host of The View and music critic at the LA Times, will be hosting a pre-concert talk/discussion about Stravinsky’s influence on pop culture and the way we experience art now.

Join us in the hall an hour before the concert. Pre-concert discussion will only be available for the September 21 – September 23 concerts. Doors open at 6:45pm.
