Event Description

Cacophonous, melodramatic, and relentless, R. Strauss’ Elektra is an inspired take on a classic ancient Greek revenge parable.  Our three-week Myths & Mortals festival concludes with this 20th-century operatic masterpiece, which pits the most extreme family dysfunction against a daughter’s intense love, rage, and longing. With a score that demands ingenuity and virtuosity from every instrument, experience this classic opera performed by Salonen, the San Francisco Symphony, Chorus, and a dynamic cast of vocalists.
