Elliot Franks

Elliot M. M. Franks studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in England and at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor before relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area. He was a Young Artist with Utah Festival Opera and was a James Byrd Anderson Young Artist with Florida Grand Opera. He is the only person to have twice been a Virginia Best Adams Fellow at the Carmel Bach Festival; he returned to the Carmel Bach Festival as a guest artist in 2005. Over the past thirty years, Mr. Franks has worked extensively as a soloist in opera and concert both regionally and nationally with companies such as Virginia Opera, Eugene Opera, Opera Vivente, Sacramento Opera, Rogue Opera, Rimrock Opera, West Bay Opera, Berkeley Opera, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Mark Morris Dance Group, Baltimore Bach Festival, Florida Bach Festival, Los Angeles Bach Choir, Lamplighters Music Theater, Midsummer Mozart Festival, San Francisco Bach Choir, San Francisco Opera Guild, Pocket Opera, Viva la Musica, San Francisco Lyric Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, Santa Clara Chorale and Orchestra, Bear Valley Music Festival, and Grass Valley Music Festival. He made his San Francisco Symphony solo debut in 2006. Internationally, Mr. Franks has appeared as a soloist in Prague, Munich, Vienna, and Budapest, and has given solo recitals throughout England and Wales.
