American soprano Marnie Breckenridge’s recent roles include Mother in David T. Little’s Dog Days, La Princesse in Philip Glass’s Orphée, Sierva Maria in Péter Eötvös’s Love And Other Demons, Emily in Ned Rorem’s Our Town, Margarita Xirgu in Osvaldo Golijov’s Ainadamar, the title role in Milhaud’s Médée, Beck Strand in Laura Kaminsky’s Today it Rains, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Gilda in Rigoletto, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, and Cunegonde in Candide with opera companies such as San Francisco Opera, English National Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Indianapolis Opera, Prague State Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Arizona Opera, and Opera Parallèle. Ms. Breckenridge is featured on a 2012 New World Records album of Victor Herbert songs, and she can also be heard on Dmitri Hvorostovsky's Heroes and Villains, recordings of vocal music of David Conte, David T. Little’s Dog Days, and countless other recordings by American composers. She made her San Francisco Symphony debut in the April 2016 SoundBox show Obsession and Creation. She studied voice at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and drama at the American Conservatory Theater.
