Christophe Chaupin

Paris-based lighting designer Christophe Chaupin designs for theater, opera, and live events. Since 1989, he has worked on productions for Festival d'Avignon and the Comédie Française. From 1998 to 2008, he ran the lighting department at Aix-en-Provence festival, creating designs for Luc Bondy, Klaus Michael Grüber, Jérôme Deschamps, Macha Makeïeff, and Julie Brochen. Since 2011, he has collaborated with Jean-Romain Vesperini on his productions of Carmen at Hong Kong Opera, Lucia di Lammermoor at Rouen Opera House, La Traviata at Opéra de Limoges, Isabelle Aboulker’s Douce et Barbe bleue at Opéra National de Lyon, The Magic Flute, and The Barber of Seville. Mr. Chaupin has also designed for productions such as Georges Lavaudant’s La clemenza di Tito and Manfred; Yoshi Oida’s Earth and Ashes; David Gauchard’s L’Odyssée and Der Freischütz; and Laurence Dale’s Ariadne auf Naxos. He has also collaborated with Christophe Lidon, Robert Hossein, and the Philippe Genty Visual Art Company.
