Canción de Obsidiana

Canción de Obsidiana began in 1989 as a project to create music for Victor-Mario Zaballa’s short films. Since then Edward Tywoniak and John Loose have collaborated with Mr. Zaballa’s ensemble using a mix of pre-Hispanic traditional ocarinas and percussion with electronic musical instruments combined with projected images. Canción de Obsidiana creates an atmospheric landscape of timeless sounds. The ensemble has performed at Lincoln Center and the Theater of the New City in New York; the de Young Museum, the Mexican Museum, the Intersection for the Arts, the San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery, and The Lab in San Francisco; and at the Monterey World Music Festival, the Tucson Museum of Art, and the Oakland Museum of Art.
