Swedish tenor Leif Aruhn-Solén started his vocal training at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm followed by studies at Oberlin College in Ohio, graduating from the Artist Diploma program in 2001. While still a student, he performed as a soloist with such orchestras as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, the Swedish Radio Symphony, and the Malmö Symphony. Engagements with Les Arts Florissants, New Israeli Opera, Singapore Symphony, Grand Théâtre de Genève, Opéra National de Montpellier, Royal Opera in Stockholm, Cleveland Orchestra, Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, and Concert Spirituel followed.
Recent opera engagements include Rinaldo in Haydn’s Armida with Pinchgut Opera in Sydney and Gandhi in Philip Glass’s Satyagraha at Folkoperan in Stockholm and on tour. In 2018, the role of Gahndi will take him to Stockholm, Copenhagen, and New York. Future concert engagements include Bach cantatas with Masaaki Suzuki. He makes his San Francisco Symphony debut at these performances.
Mr. Aruhn-Solén’s recordings include Handel arias (Edition Lilac), Ifigenia in Aulide by Martín y Soler and Aminta, Il re pastore by Mazzoni (Harmonia Mundi K617), Charpentier’s Judicium Salomonis (Virgin Classics), and Songs of the Heart (Sterling).
