Common

An Academy Award, Golden Globe, Emmy, and Grammy-winning actor and musician, Common continues to break down barriers with a multitude of critically acclaimed and diverse roles, along with success at the box office. In 2015 he appeared in the Oscar-nominated film Selma, which chronicled the civil rights marches that changed America. With John Legend, he won an Academy Award and Golden Globe for the song “Glory,” which was featured in the film. Behind the scenes, Common currently serves as Executive Producer of the Showtime series The Chi, a coming-of-age story set in Chicago. He released his eleventh studio album, Black America Again, in 2016. He was most recently featured on Andra Day‘s song “Stand Up for Something,” co-written with Diane Warren and heard in the 2017 film Marshall. The song received Grammy, NAACP, and Critics’ Choice award nominations, and the Hollywood Song Award at the 2017 Hollywood Film Awards. Common makes his San Francisco Symphony debut at this performance.
