Michael Tilson Thomas, the San Francisco Symphony and Chorus, and special guests including Plácido Domingo and Frederica von Stade come together this January to celebrate the 80th birthday of American composer and philanthropist Gordon Getty, a long-serving member of the Symphony’s board who has helped to support some of its most important initiatives, including the Grammy-winning Mahler recording cycle. Ms. Von Stade, a beloved favorite of the Symphony audience, and Maestro Domingo, appearing with the Symphony for the first time in 40 years, join MTT, the Chorus, the Orchestra, and other special guests for an evening of music by Beethoven, Rossini, Mahler, and the world premiere of Getty’s A Prayer for My Daughter. Put a little sparkle in your January with this one-of-a-kind celebratory evening of wonderful artists and a few special surprises.
Upgrade your experience and help Gordon Getty celebrate his birthday in true Symphony style by purchasing one of our formal dinner packages.
Limited Availability for Dinner Packages. Please contact the Volunteer Council at 415-503-5500 for all Dinner Package inquiries.
Proceeds from the Celebrity Salute to Gordon Getty will benefit the Symphony's music education and community programs that serve over 75,000 students in our Bay Area elementary, middle, and high schools each year.
