PABLO HERAS-CASADO RETURNS TO THE SAN FRANCISCO SYMPHONY TO CONDUCT CONCERTS FEATURING CELLIST ALISA WEILERSTEIN, OCTOBER 19-22 AT DAVIES SYMPHONY HALL
Program includes Mozart’s Symphony No. 29, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7, and Weilerstein performing Schumann’s Cello Concerto
SAN FRANCISCO, September 20 – Conductor Pablo Heras-Casado returns to the San Francisco Symphony (SFS) to lead Mozart’s Symphony No. 29 in A major, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 in D minor, and Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A minor with cellist Alisa Weilerstein, October 19-22 at Davies Symphony Hall. These performances occur shortly after the release of Weilerstein’s fifth Decca album in September 2016, which features Heras-Casado conducting the Bavarian Radio Symphony and Weilerstein performing Shostakovich’s two cello concertos. Pablo Heras-Casado made his SF Symphony debut in October 2010, and over the past seven seasons, has been invited back to conduct an additional nine orchestral programs with the SFS. Alisa Weilerstein made her SFS debut in 2001, performing Saint-Saëns’s Cello Concerto No. 1 with Michael Tilson Thomas, and has returned to Davies Symphony Hall five times since then.
