Charitable Gifts

A charitable gift annuity can boost your retirement income and support the music you love.

A charitable gift annuity is a simple contract between you and the Symphony.  In exchange for your irrevocable gift established through cash, appreciated securities or qualified real estate, the Symphony agrees to pay for life a fixed annuity amount at favorable rates to you or a loved one. You choose when the payments start: now or at a later start-date, such as during retirement years.

Benefits to You
• Immediate charitable income tax deduction
• Select an advantageous start date for receiving fixed payments
• Deferred start dates benefit from even greater payout rates
• Portion of payments is tax-free
• Reduce capital gains tax when donating appreciated assets
• Become a member of the Symphony’s Pierre Monteux Society

Benefit to the San Francisco Symphony
The Symphony receives the remainder to support its artistic excellence, education and community outreach programs, and other important endeavors.

Secure and Stable
Gift annuities are general obligations of the Symphony and are backed by the assets of the Symphony, in addition to a state-required reserve trust that is separate from the Symphony’s endowment.  This money is invested for the purpose of ensuring a source of assets to support your annuity.
