The Pierre Monteux Society
The Pierre Monteux Society is a distinguished group of patrons of the San Francisco Symphony who, through their visionary philanthropy, have made a commitment to ensuring the Symphony’s future.
Maestro Pierre Monteaux served as music director for the Symphony from 1935 to 1952 who led the Orchestra on its first transcontinental tour of the United States and Canada and produced a series of acclaimed recordings that catapulted the Symphony to international prominence. A central figure in the evolution of 20th century music, he premiered the notorious and riot-torn premiere of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring, as well as the premiere of the composer’s Petrushka. In gratitude for his extraordinary contributions, we honor the legacy of Pierre Monteux through the Society that lives on in his name.
Remember the SFS with a planned gift and you’ll be invited to join the PMS.
