Mahler Festival '09

The San Francisco Symphony starts off its 2009-10 season with an exciting three week Mahler Festival led by Michael Tilson Thomas, recently heralded by The New Yorker as a “born Mahlerian.”

Baritone Thomas Hampson will join the SFS as he and Michael Tilson Thomas explore the works of Mahler in an intriguing Origins and Legacies concert. The Mahler festival culminates in a stunning performance of Mahler’s Fifth Symphony with one of the most beautiful musical passages, the famous Adagietto movement.

During this festival, get a behind-the-scenes look at our new SFS Media projects including the San Francisco Symphony's recording of the final CD in the acclaimed Mahler Cycle.
