Franz Joseph Haydn: “The Father of the Symphony

Bring your children to hear the San Francisco Symphony play kid-sized classical concerts—shorter programs, great music, fascinating musical discoveries, and free materials for young concertgoers to promote music appreciation at home. Child-friendly start and end times make it easy for children to experience and enjoy classical music.

What do a bear, a hen, and a clock have in common? They’re nicknames for different pieces of music by Franz Joseph Haydn, one of the most famous composers in Classical music. Symphony orchestras play all kinds of music, including wonderful pieces called “symphonies.” Haydn is known as The Father of the Symphony, and you’ll learn why. Don’t miss this fun concert featuring the San Francisco Symphony, conductor Edwin Outwater, and great music from some of Haydn’s best, wittiest, most beautiful, and most famous symphonies.

Recommended for ages 7 and older. Half price for ages 17 and under. Group discount not available.
