Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2
Bychkov
Semyon Bychkov, conductor

A Russian translation of Edgar Allan Poe’s The Bells was the inspiration for Sergei Rachmaninoff’s choral monument of the same name. This haunting work’s mystery lies in its use of an ancient chant sung at funerals. The Second Symphony is a multi-colored tapestry of melody.

Inside Music, an informative talk with Scott Foglesong free to ticketholders, begins one hour prior to concerts.

Center Terrace seats not available.
