Gilbert & Sullivan's Iolanthe

Gilbert & Sullivan's "Iolanthe"
Please note updates to artist information below.

George Manahan of New York City Opera leads the San Francisco Symphony and guest performers in a whimsical semi-staged production of Iolanthe. This 1883 satiric operetta savages a peerage that values birth over merit while entertaining with a love story of shepherds and shepherdesses, bluebloods and fairies. Along with bubbling music, we’re treated to jokes about deadwood politicians and gender battles.

Inside Music, an informative talk free to ticketholders, with Scott Foglesong begins one hour prior to concerts.

Off the Podium — please join us for an informal Q&A session featuring George Manahan and the Iolanthe cast immediately following the performance on June 20.

Meet Richard Suart for an exclusive signing of his book, They’d none of ‘em be missed, immediately following the Jun 18, 19 & 21 concerts at the Symphony Store in the lobby.

Group discount does not apply. Center Terrace seats not available for these performances.

Supported by The Barbro and Bernard Osher Staged Production Fund.
