Yuja Wang
Yuja Wang
Yuja Wang, at the beginning of a brilliant career, plays a monumental piano concerto. The Fourth is the most probing of Sibelius's symphonies, mysterious and beautiful. Also: new music from DJ and electronica/ techno artist Mason Bates.

"[Wang] can barrel through any of the major piano concertos with enough technical prowess and interpretive depth to make her elder colleagues weep with envy."–San Francisco Chronicle

Inside Music, an informative talk free to ticketholders, with James Gaffigan begins one hour prior to rehearsal and concerts.

On Friday, May 22, come to the 2nd Tier Lobby for Davies After Hours featuring SFS Resident Conductor Benjamin Shwartz and DJ Masonic, the alter-ego of composer Mason Bates. Together they will present Mercury Lounge: Mercury Soul comes to Davies, a spinoff of their wildly popular club events where classical music meets electronica. Chamber musicians and DJs join in a collaboration to create the musical experience of Mercury Soul, just steps away from the concert hall. Free to all ticketholders, full cash bar. Watch a video featuring the March 20 Davies After Hours, on VidSF.

Off the Podium — please join us for an informal Q&A session featuring Yuja Wang and Mason Bates immediately following the performance on May 20.

Meet Yuja Wang for an exclusive CD signing immediately following the May 22-23 concerts and Mason Bates for an exclusive CD signing following the May 23 concert at the Symphony Store in the lobby. Purchase your CDs now at the Symphony eStore.
