Carmina burana—here arranged for two pianos and percussion—is a potent work of powerful, driving rhythms. This explosive shout to the joys of love, drink, and ‘lady luck’ is music at its wild and rowdy best. The San Francisco Symphony Chorus won a Grammy in 1993 for its recording of this choral showpiece. The eclectic program also features a diverse array of modern pieces for chorus including works by Rheinberger, Tormis, Werle, and Whitacre. Don't miss your chance to see the San Francisco Symphony Chorus, called "mighty and volcanic" by the San Francisco Chronicle. "The music itself toggles between huge forces and a single voice, juxtaposing majesty and intimacy with ease." –National Public RadioCenter Terrace seats are not available for this performance.
