Sergei Prokofiev always had a piano in his life.
Today he is known mainly as one of the 20th century’s greatest composers. He was also a steel-fingered virtuoso who could make a keyboard explode.
To know his piano works is to know Prokofiev. This June, you can meet him on his own turf. Your guides: the San Francisco Symphony, Michael Tilson Thomas, and four soloists who are torchbearers of the Russian tradition and whose artistry makes them Prokofiev’s keyboard peers.
Conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas
