Davies After Hours

A Genre-Crossing Musical Extravaganza

Davies After Hours is a unique post-concert party that connects classical music to pop, jazz and other musical genres that flourish in the Bay Area. Concertgoers can party on the top floor of Davies Symphony Hall – transformed into an elegant nightclub with smashing views of City Hall, open-air balconies, and specialty drinks at the cash-only bar – while listening to groups play music inspired by that night’s Symphony program. This event is free to all ticket holders.

Concert performance: Beethoven Project: MTT and Missa Solemnis
Davies After Hours performer: Meklit & Quinn
Visual Artist: Cyrus Tilton

Meklit and Quinn

Singer-songwriter Meklit Hadero, a Senior TED Fellow and deeply involved pioneering force in San Francisco’s artistic scene, is a global tapestry of musical and cultural influences. Her music blends New York jazz and West Coast folk with traditional Ethiopian and much more. “She sings about fragility, hope, and self-empowerment, and exudes all three,” (SF Chronicle), offering her messages in a voice as sensuous and original as it is stunning. Equally at home across genres, Quinn DeVeaux is a commanding frontman who turns out remarkable original work filled with joy, grit and irresistible beats. A catchy crossroads of Chicago blues and New Orleans soul and gospel, he is packing in Bay Area dance floors and beyond.

Vessel Gallery presents sculpture by artist Cyrus Tilton. A composite of Tilton's works from "The Cycle," "A Place In Between," and "Absence" will be presented. Tilton's highly evocative and distinctive artworks are masterfully executed with equally refined poetic expression. These works express concern for the environment and human psychological complexity with graceful intensity. Cyrus Tilton is represented by Lonnie Lee.
